Relaxed Homeschooling?

I admit, the term "relaxed homeschooling" brings up feelings of both terror and intrigue inside of me ;-) Anyone who knows me knows I thrive on structure, but sometimes to my detriment. In my short 7.5 years of mothering, the Lord has really been helping me with this, softening my edges a bit. I mentioned in my post below about homeschooling that my perfectionism can interfere with the freedom and excitement homeschooling should be about, so it is an area that I definitely need growth in.

That being said, I have been given the chance to review the ebook "Relaxed Homeschooling: There is Another Way!" by Kelly at Generation Cedar. It really helped me to see how homeschooling can be relaxed without being chaotic. Its meaty, but easy and pleasant to read. She touches on what education really is and should be about, and then gives a nice glimpse into what relaxed homeschooling looks like for her family. Just hearing about how someone else accomplishes it takes alot of apprehension away from the idea! At the end of each chapter is a "Hint Corner", giving practical ideas for things such as keeping little ones engaged and learning and ways to incorporate learning into conversation and everyday activities. She answers some of the basic questions someone like me has about relaxed homeschooling, and gives an example of her family's basic schedule (yes! relaxed learning and schedules CAN be complimentary! lol!) It is an ebook I'll be reading many more times as I try to incorporate more of a "lifestyle of learning" into our homeschooling journey!

I'd encourage anyone who is curious but nervous about the idea of relaxed homeschooling to check this ebook out! Kelly is even offering it at a discounted price ($10 off!) until Monday, July 14, so now's a good time :-)
