For my Mom

Mom, thank you for the wonderful memories you've given me to cherish. I remember making chocolates, dancing with you in front of the stove so we could see our feet, singing songs from musicals (especially those with Julie Andrews!), and playing with your pin cushion while you sewed tirelessly for me - clothes, hobby horses, little bears in houses, and so much more. I remember you letting me try anything and everything my little heart desired - from ballet and tap to ice skating and gymnastics, from violin to piano, until I finally settled on my passion - horses!

How you supported me in that desire, dropping me off so early in the mornings at the barns, allowing me to stay all day on the weekends, coming back to pick me up as the sun was setting, me, all dirty and stinky of horse. And how happy it made me! It was heaven on earth for me, I don't know what more a little horse-crazy girl could have asked for.

Then came the turbulent times, and how much trouble I caused you! I am embarrassed and ashamed in my memories. Yet, still you remained faithful to me and your dreams for me - for me to have peace, joy, and more than what I wanted for myself. How you and Daddy sacrificed to give me what I needed, and how much it broke your heart, I don't know. But it was the best for me, and you knew it, so there was no question in your mind about accomplishing it. And your dreams for me have come true - I have peace, joy, and more than I ever could have wanted for myself.

Now, as a Grandma - you are a joy to your grandsons. Your playfulness comes out as I remember it from when I was their age, with all the incredible creativity I've always envied (but seems to have passed to my sister instead of me, lol!). They so look forward to your visits and all the fun that accompanies you. And one day, hopefully soon, we'll be close enough where we can enjoy you more than once or twice a year - that is our prayer!

Thank you mom, for my life, my childhood, and the wonderful memories you've blessed me with. Proverbs 31 says "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.... Her children arise and call her blessed" (v. 10 and 28). You are blessed, my sweet, wonderful mommy! Thank you, for all that you have given, sacrificed and loved. It does not go unrecognized!
