It makes me smile but, unfortunately, it's a strawman because that's not what most atheists believe.
Now many do admit to not knowing how stuff got here (but it's likely just always been, they say), and they admit that abiogenesis isn't really known, but: But giving that there is stuff and life started, they can see mechanisms in place that allow for continued development.
At least, that's my current understanding of the position [smile].
