The joy of a 21 month old is so contagious! He wakes up every morning thrilled that he still has his bellybutton. He yells "Da-ye" and runs with glee for Michael everytime he sees him. He is so proud when he can see the scribbles he's made on a piece of paper with a marker. He does a dance around the room when he gets his shoes on and can play outside with his brothers. All of life is joyous to him - exciting, something to be celebrated, lovely.
This is probably just a small glimpse of why Christ said "...Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matt 18:3) Each day is new to us, a wonderful gift from our creator, to cherish and worship Him for. I pray that we find joy in the childlike things, and rediscover our wonder at God's great majesty. Let us treasure the beauty of our children's innocence, and enter into it with them!
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing...
